Winter is not a good time for your skin – thanks to the cold weather the skin gets dry and chapped and demands extra care. Here’s a basic guide to winter skincare that will help you put your best face forward.
CHANGE YOUR FACE MASKS
Opt for face masks that purify and hydrate at the same time. Use a gel or cream-based face mask twice a week and it will help hydrate the skin as well as remove toxins, impurities and tan. It also helps to minimise the facial expression lines.
CHANGE BATH ROUTINE
A long, hot bath washes away your skin’s natural oils. After bathing, remember to apply lotion all over your body, especially on the dry and exposed parts. It is important to moisturise the skin immediately after a bath. Applying moisturiser to damp skin helps seal the dampness into the skin. Choose daytime moisturising cream and lotion carefully during the winter season. If the skin is extremely dry, use a rich cream; and if the skin is normal but tends to become dry during winter, use some good pH normalising moisturiser. Be careful about choosing creams as they should not close your pores. You can also consult a beauty expert and take help for skin care during winter.
STEP UP YOUR SUN PROTECTION
It is extremely important to use sun protection when you step out in the sun during winter, too. Pick a broad spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 25 which not only protects the skin from harmful UVA & UVB sun rays but also nourishes it from deep within.
GET A SERUM
A hydrating serum is a perfect way to give some moisturising and anti-ageing benefits to protect against dry winter air. Serums are made of very small molecules, so the skin absorbs them quickly and deeply. They contain the most potent dose of anti-ageing ingredients like antioxidants and peptides. Night creams are essential in winter. Use a good quality cold cream for repairing the skin.
